Ways to Help

Volunteer with Us

Volunteers are the heart of Claiborne Animal Shelter. We rely heavily on the time, dedication, and compassion of individuals who are willing to lend a helping hand. Our shelter could not operate at its current capacity without the invaluable support of our volunteers.

All volunteers must be 18 years of age or older and have a completed volunteer application on file at the shelter prior to participating.

Volunteer Activities May Include:

  • Washing animal food and water dishes

  • Assisting with laundry

  • Walking and socializing dogs

  • Interacting with cats and kittens

  • Shredding newspaper for bedding

  • Participating in animal enrichment activities

  • Supporting various shelter tasks and duties as needed

Whether you're helping behind the scenes or spending time with the animals, your efforts make a real difference. If you're passionate about animal welfare and looking to make a meaningful impact, we’d love to have you join our team.

Become a Foster

At Claiborne Animal Shelter, we’re building a strong network of foster homes to support dogs on their way to forever families. Right now, we’re especially in need of short-term fosters to care for dogs who have already been adopted and are just waiting for transport to their new homes.

These pups are almost at the finish line—they just need a safe, loving place to rest until they can begin their next chapter. Fostering is a short-term commitment with a lifelong impact.

If you’ve got a little time and space, you can make a big difference.

Thank you for being part of the journey.
