Why Spay & Neuter?
Spaying and neutering pets helps prevent unwanted litters, reduces the number of animals entering shelters, and can even improve your pet’s health and behavior. Consider these facts:
-
A single unspayed female cat and her offspring can produce over 370,000 kittens in just seven years.
-
An unspayed dog and her offspring can produce over 67,000 puppies in six years.
-
Spayed and neutered pets often live longer, healthier lives and are less likely to roam or develop certain types of cancer.
Our clinic exists to serve the community—making vital veterinary care more accessible, and helping families and animals thrive.

Why Vaccines Matter
Vaccinating your pets protects them—and the community—against dangerous and potentially deadly diseases. Core vaccines like DHPP and FVRCP guard against distemper, parvovirus, respiratory infections, and more.
-
Unvaccinated puppies and kittens are especially vulnerable to fatal diseases like parvo and panleukopenia.
-
Rabies vaccinations protect both humans and animals.
Regular vaccinations are one of the simplest, most effective ways to keep your pet healthy and avoid costly emergency care.
Why Microchips are Important
Microchipping is a quick, inexpensive way to ensure your pet can be returned to you if they’re ever lost.
-
1 in 3 pets will become lost during their lifetime.
-
Microchipped pets are more than 2x as likely to be reunited with their families if found.
-
Collars can fall off—a microchip is permanent identification.
We offer microchipping at a low cost to give every pet the best chance of making it home.
TNR (Trap, Neuter, Release) Program

In 2022, Claiborne Animal Shelter received a generous grant from Petco Love to support lifesaving initiatives in our community. As part of this partnership, we launched a Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) program specifically focused on managing the feral cat population in Claiborne County. To support this effort, the shelter acquired five humane feral cat traps, which are available for loan in targeted areas with established feral cat colonies. This program plays a vital role in reducing overpopulation while promoting the health and safety of both community cats and local neighborhoods.

Our goal is to reduce the number of unwanted, ill, and free-roaming cats in the community through targeted, humane population control efforts. Qualifying areas will have access to essential services at no cost, including spay/neuter surgeries, core vaccinations (provided through the Petco Love Free Vaccine Campaign, while supplies last), and rabies vaccinations. These resources are made available to help improve the health of community cats and create a more balanced, compassionate environment for both animals and residents.
